Helen Waterworth

Helen grew up in rural Hawke's Bay, a farmer's daughter with an adventurous spirit that couldn’t be contained. Her wanderlust took her around the world, from backpacking through Australia to teaching scuba diving in Thailand, farming in Scotland, and vanning across Europe. Along the way, she embraced roles as diverse as luxury lodge host, bungee jump operator, tour guide, fruit picker, and bartender. A self-proclaimed explorer, Helen discovered her passion for New Zealand's backcountry early on, leading her to trail running and fast-packing adventures. After six years of travel, she returned home, trading the suitcase for a career with Fire and Emergency NZ and settling in Whangārei. Now, after six years in the service, Helen is hanging up her bunker gear to pursue exciting new opportunities in the running community.
